Security professionals today face a huge challenge when it comes to investigative work that is needed when vulnerabilities are found. Vulnerabilities with a high risk score require immediate efforts from multiple groups to investigate and remediate as quickly as possible.

Investigation efforts are even more resource-consuming by a high false positive rate. Triage sessions on false positives require a great deal of time and people resources that take away from time spent on threat hunting.

Today, we’ll deep-dive into two key findings from The Total Economic Impact™ Of Rapid7 InsightVM, a November 2019 commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting. The study found that Rapid7 InsightVM customers experienced:

  • 22% reduction in false positive alerts
Fewer false alerts and more accurate data helped customers save time
  • 33% reduction in investigation efforts
Better reporting and actionable insights helped customers make visible progress

We’ll be looking at InsightVM’s functionality that makes this reduction in false positive alerts and investigation efforts possible. Specifically, we’ll cover how InsightVM provides accurate analyses of IT assets that lead to fewer false positives, fewer investigations, and fewer time-consuming triage sessions. Additionally, we’ll look at how InsightVM’s accuracy and fidelity help drive an easier remediation process.
